Longines continues to keep a close and long-standing connection with military time-keeping. Longines continued to play a key role in producing watches throughout WWII. The British Ministry of Defense commissioned them and eleven others to design and manufacture watches for British soldiers. This group was later nicknamed the “Dirty Dozen.”

This Longines Heritage (Model Ref:) L2.731.4 is an homage to the very famous Longines Dirty Dozen (DD) watch that was produced towards the end of WW2.

This watch is in almost mint condition and is sold with its original box and papers. The rich black dial is immaculate and features all of the hallmarks we would have seen on the original DD watch including bold Arabic numerals, outer minute track, recessed sub-seconds dial at 6 o'clock, the military arrow and even the Cathedral Hands (a detail only featured on the Longines and JLC Dirty Dozen models). This watch is however powered by an automatic movement as opposed to the original hand-wound movement and also has a date aperture at 6 o'clock, a controversial move on Longines's part that has had the military watch community divided! The dial is encapsulated underneath Hesalite crystal and is encased in polished stainless steel. To the case back you will see the WWW and military pheon engraving - in keeping with the original design.  This is a really stylish piece of kit that will almost certainly appeal the military enthusiasts but also a more general audience. At its core it is a utility watch with robust functionality and also happens to look great ion the wrist.
